About MGS	English (USA)
The Muscogee Genealogical Society was founded in 1976 in Columbus, Georgia. In the early years it was called the Genealogical Society of Original Muscogee County, and attempted to meet the research needs of genealogists in original Muscogee County, which included parts of today's Chattahoochee, Harris, Marion and Talbot counties. Later, the name was shortened, though the scope of the organization remains Original Muscogee County. The principal purposes of the Muscogee Genealogical Society are to raise the standards of genealogical research through educational programs, workshops and publication of genealogical data, and to promote the collecting and the preserving of records. The Society holds four meetings a year (one being an all-day genealogical workshop); supports the development of the Columbus Public Library's Genealogical Room through the donation of funds; and sponsors the publication of "Muscogiana," a journal treating Columbus area local history and genealogy which is published by the CSU Archives. Membership information is available at the Society's web page at http://www.muscogeegenealogy.com This list is provided for dues-paying members of the Society. It will be used to alert members of upcoming genealogical and local history events. It may also be used by members to submit genealogical queries to the general membership. Subscribing to MGS
Subscribe to MGS by filling out the following form. This is a closed list, which means your subscription will be held for approval. You will be notified of the list moderator's decision by email. This is also a private list, which means that the list of members is not available to non-members. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext.
